Humans on display

On the 11th and 12th of December 2006, auditions were held at the Adelaide zoo to be in the new Human Zoo in Australia. 100 humans made it to the auditions. Each group of 6 humans was locked in their separate cages on the 2nd of January, 2007. They remained in their cages for a time period of one week, and were allowed to return home at night.

This project was started by Dr. Carla Litchfield, a scientist from the University of South Australia. She started this project to find out how the animals felt in the zoo (being locked in cages). She also locked herself into the "Human Zoo". "She received a unique opportunity to spend time in an enclosure and experience things from the animal’s point of view."

I personally think it was a pretty cool experiment, but that’s just me. What do YOU think??

Star Trek

Most of you are already cringing, just from reading the title of this post. I was too when I first learned that we had bought the first full season of it.

Star Trek is actually a very enjoyable show with unforgettable characters, such as Captain Jean Luc Picard, Lieutenant Worf, Counselor Troi, Commander Data, Commander La Forge, Commander Riker, Dr. Crusher, Wesley Crusher, Q, and many others!

In almost every episode there are thousands of questions, mysteries, missing people, murders, imposters, spies, and sometimes terrifying answers to all of your questions.

It is a very exciting series, and one of my favorite episodes is "The Game". So, next time your LD teacher threatens you with a Star Trek book, maybe you should pick it up!

Even if you don’t like the books, you should definitely try the movies! My family now owns seasons 1-6 of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The scoop on ice cream

The origins of ice cream can be traced back to at least 400 B.C. The early Roman Emperor Nero ordered ice to be brought from the mountains and then mixed with fruits (I am assuming this is where peaches, strawberries, and cherries come into play!)

The King of Shang, China, developed a method of creating milk and ice concoctions. This treat was believed to have been brought from China over to Europe.

Several famous Americans, such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and many more, were said to have served ice cream to their guests!

But in the end, who really cares where ice cream came from? It’s just good! What’s YOUR favorite flavor???

Survey says ...

I surveyed 15 people over the past few weeks. One question that I asked was, are you a cat person or a dog person? To my surprise, only one person said they prefer cats. I have several reasons why I think cats make better pets (even though I love dogs too!)

About Me

For my first post, I thought I should give you a little background information.

Well, I love to look out the window, watching and listening to the rain outside.

I absolutely hate mornings, especially school ones.

I love music; I listen to music all the time. My favorite bands include; Stellar Kart, FM Static, Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK), Superchic[k], Barlow Girl, and many more!

The best movies ever made would have to include; The Princess Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tuck Everlasting, and Fried Green Tomatoes.

I love to write stories, and I have one at home I plan to send out for publication once it is finished.

My first time ever being published was during an essay contest, when I was published in the book “What is Important to Me?” My essay was titled “Make Me Who I Am”.

Every once in a while, I like to write poetry. I never said I was any good, I just enjoy the experience.
